EtherWaves and Tensilica collaborate to expand digital broadcasting solution

EtherWaves and Tensilica have announced that they will further expand ClearSignal's software DAB / DMB solutions by implanting Tensilica's Xtensa data processor. EtherWaves is an industry-recognized leader in in-vehicle and SOC (system-on-chip) digital broadcast IP cores , Tensilica is the industry's leading and proven supplier of configurable processor IP. This move is very consistent with EtherWaves's consistent strategic policy of supporting leading chip architectures, while also expanding the practicality of ClearSignal software design.

The new ClearSignal RF design, while increasing digital broadcast reception capabilities for mobile devices, maintains the low power consumption feature, thereby expanding the choice of SOC designers. This design takes advantage of Tensilica's ConnX Vectra LX DSP engine and other architectural optimizations to achieve a typical DAB channel reception at 50MHz.

The new solution based on the Tensilica processor can implement all broadcast standards supported by ClearSignal: DAB, DAB +, T-DMB, DRM and future DRM +, which demonstrates the superior performance of the solution.
