MaliTM-V61 Advanced Video Processor - for the new generation

In early 2016, we released a preview of the features of the new Mali video processor. The industry has generally shown a strong interest in this new product, and the new breakthrough features make it hard to wait for more relevant content. Now, we have finally released the Mali-V61 video processor.

During the development of the Mali-V61, we insisted on adopting a new solution, not satisfied with standard video processors that can only handle specific or limited encoding. We have developed an all-in-one integrated video solution that uses firmware to control the necessary functions of the associated codec and is responsible for performing full pixel processing by a proprietary hardware architecture. The Mali-V61 firmware uses a single API control to provide reference driver and host interface parameters based on the latest version of Android, ensuring flexibility in SoC design while providing the industry with a solution that supports multiple standards.

In the IP development process, we believe that the most important thing is not only to support existing high-end content and equipment, but also to adapt to the challenges and the complexity brought about by future industry changes. In view of this, we have greatly improved the HEVC encoding capability and supported VP9 encoding and decoding, making the Mali-V61 the industry's first multi-standard video processor with VP9 encoding capability.

In addition to advanced encoding and decoding solutions, we also offer an Android reference software driver for handling a variety of task types including video session setup, dynamic power control, and memory allocation. The Mali-V61 has a built-in core scheduler that manages multiple encoding/decoding streams across multiple cores, as well as single or multiple video streams for optimal performance.

Video conferencing and "chat", immersive

The new Mali-V61 video processor is highly flexible and is the ideal solution for multi-stream stream encoding/decoding to meet the needs of different user scenarios. Regardless of formal video conferencing or a growing video chat application, two-way real-time video communications are rapidly emerging. In this application scenario, the device needs to process multiple video streams of different devices, locations, and performance points at the same time, which is extremely complicated, and the video output quality may drop rapidly. The Mali-V61 can efficiently process all video streams while properly allocating bandwidth, maximizing video quality, creating a superior visual experience for end users while avoiding the delays and unexpected interruptions that occur from time to time in the early days of mobile video conferencing technology.

Video capture

With the rapid development of 4k high-definition display technology, the market's thirst for high-quality content continues to rise. The Mali-V61 supports 4k video capture, video streaming of large-screen devices (such as home TV), and content sharing directly with friends or on social media, allowing you to watch and share high-quality video without any external hardware.

Configurability and scalability

At the beginning of the Mali-V61 design, we ensured its full configurability to meet the needs of multi-level video IP while ensuring high quality encoding and decoding. Partners can adopt different configurations according to the requirements of the target device, decide whether to support the preferred resolution or frame rate, whether to provide encoding function, or only provide decoding functions (such as producing a video player without a camera); partners can also Choose whether to support both 10-bit and 8-bit video, only 8-bit video, whether all video codecs are supported, or only one subset is supported to design the configuration. The wide range of choices allows partners to leverage the power of the Mali-V61 to provide differentiated services and control for different products.

Mali Multimedia Kit

Following the launch of the Mali-DP650 display processor and the Mali-G71 GPU in January and May 2016, the launch of the Mali-V61 will be the third major component of the high-performance ARM® Mali multimedia suite, designed for the next generation of high-end devices. Bodybuilding. Pre-optimized, the Mali Multimedia Suite delivers a high-quality user experience with significant energy efficiency and bandwidth savings.

ARM Frame Buffer Compression (AFBC) is ARM's top bandwidth saving technology, and its new version has been used in the Mali-V61 VPU and the newly released Mali-G51 GPU. This version fully supports backward compatibility and improves the efficiency of the Mali multimedia suite. The Mali-G51 is designed to create a high-end experience for mainstream devices, supporting everything from real-world enhancements (AR) to virtual spaces to casual games and smooth user interfaces.
