NXP launches RF chip series for long-distance smart car key functions

Eindhoven, The Netherlands, Shanghai, China, September 17, 2015 – NXP Semiconductors, Inc. (Nasdaq), market leader in secure connected vehicles and vehicle door control solutions , recently held at the IAA International Motor Expo in Frankfurt, Germany Code: NXPI) introduces its new Mantra RF portfolio, a family of high performance transceivers and receivers for secure car theft and vehicle management. The chip family offers long-distance, two-way RF links for stable, reliable two-way communication between car keys and cars hundreds of meters apart. The car key with Mantra allows users to easily check fuel level, battery level and up-to-date maintenance data at a distance. The owner can also check if the doors and windows are locked, operate the door locks for long distances, start the vehicle, and preset the vehicle temperature.

Designed for the mid- to high-end automotive door control market, the Mantra series offers ultra-high sensitivity and noise immunity for improved radio interference and uninterrupted signal reception. In addition, it contains an innovative concept: the Mantra series is the only chip series in the automotive market that offers a three-channel receiver that can simultaneously receive up to three channels of signals. Multi-channel reception ensures that no signal is lost, resulting in ultra-high system stability with ultra-low power consumption. In addition, this new concept makes it possible to integrate different receiver devices (such as tire pressure monitoring, vehicle diagnostics and vehicle management devices) into the vehicle gating module, thereby reducing overall system cost. The Mantra product line offers powerful security and authentication capabilities to prevent unauthorized access.
