Qualcomm brings a full-home wireless audio experience; announced the commercialization of the AllPlay smart media platform

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2014 - Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced the commercial availability of the AllPlayTM smart media platform. The platform is an overall home audio wireless solution developed by Qualcomm Connected Experiences, Inc., using Qualcomm Atheros wireless technology. The AllPlay Smart Audio Module makes it easier to develop and launch consumer electronics across multiple brands and platforms, enabling seamless streaming of high-quality local and cloud content while ensuring high-performance Wi-Fi connectivity. Numerous audio equipment manufacturers and streaming music service providers, including Altec Lansing, iHeartRadio, Panasonic and Rhapsody, have promised to release AllPlay-enabled products this year.

AllPlay is based on the AllJoynTM framework of the open source project developed by Qualcomm InnovaTIon Center, Inc., which was originally designed to provide high quality multi-room audio services. AllJoyn helps developers address the need for security and universal interoperability between endpoints and applications, and facilitates the implementation of the Internet of Everything.
