Introduction and Application of TA7257P Motor (DC Motors) Driver IC

The TA7257P is a single bridge driver IC that controls small DC motors. The main capabilities of the TA7257P are as follows:

(1) Add a logic level signal of 0 or 1 at the IC input pin, and use this as a combination of input signals for different control, such as forward rotation, reverse rotation, stop, and quick brake.

(2) IC working voltage and motor driving voltage can be input independently and can be used for servo control; IC working voltage range is 6~18V, motor driving voltage is 0~8V.

(3) Built-in thermal shut down circuit and over current protector.

(4) The current output can reach an average of 1.5A and the maximum value is 4.5A.

The TA7257P is a logic level signal input from Pin1 and Pin2, so that Pin3 and Pin5 connected to the two ends of the motor generate voltages of different flow directions, so that the motor performs positive and negative operations. Table 2 shows the truth table of the four different combinations of the input logic level signal and the output voltage, and the action corresponding to the motor.

Figure 4 shows the basic application circuit provided by the TA7257P user manual. Pin1 and Pin2 are control signal input terminals. They can be combined with wireless receiving circuits to wirelessly control DC motors with high and low potentials output by the receiver. Pin3 and Pin5 Connect the motor and connect a capacitor and resistor in parallel. It is recommended that the capacitor value be 0.1μF and the resistance value be 33Ω.

General Purpose Motor
