Mobile phone design company Jiaxing Wentai Communication Technology Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as Wentai) announced today that it has reached a patent license agreement with Qualcomm for subscriber units and module / modem cards (including PCB assemblies).

According to the terms of the patent license agreement, Qualcomm will grant Wingtech a global patent license to develop, produce and sell subscriber units, modules and modem cards (including PCB assemblies) using the CDMA2000 standard. The royalties to be paid by Wingtech are calculated according to Qualcomm's standard rates.

Wingtech will promote the development of the global wireless communications market by developing, producing and selling 3GCDMA mobile phones and module / modem cards." In this regard, some insiders said that with the end of domestic telecommunications restructuring. China Telecom has shown great confidence and enthusiasm in the CDMA market. In the terminal field, it has thrown out 5 million orders before officially taking over. Yang Xiaowei, deputy general manager of China Telecom, also said that the number of centralized terminal purchases in 2009 may exceed 50 million, and strives to develop CDMA users to 100 million within three years.

This gives a good opportunity for domestic mobile phones in the trough. The relatively low-end domestic CDMA terminals are still recognized by China Telecom. Because China Telecom also has a large number of PHS users, China Telecom still hopes to transfer as many PHS users as possible to the CDMA network.

Domestic mobile phones are the largest customer group of mobile phone design companies, and their needs may be the next spring for design companies. The highly mature and fierce market competition of the GSM standard, coupled with the slow start of the domestic 3G market, has made some mobile phone design companies in a difficult position.
