Waymo announces new patented intelligent adjustment for unmanned vehicles to effectively prevent passengers from motion sickness

On Wednesday, Waymo, an autonomous automotive division of Alphabet, announced a new patent that would prevent passengers from reacting to motion sickness during driving.

It is reported that this solution mainly uses intelligent systems to select a relatively flat route for passengers who are prone to motion sickness, and for speed-seekers, it will automatically select a faster but more rugged route.

The patent also includes prompting passengers to get on the car and let them sit in a smoother seat, not looking down or reading.

Once the passengers unfortunately experience motion sickness, the system automatically switches modes, slows down and shifts routes, or enters less crowded areas to ease passenger discomfort.

In the era of autonomous driving and electric vehicles, the comfortable ride and travel experience is undoubtedly a big plus. In addition to Waymo, companies and organizations such as Uber have also introduced related anti-motion and motion mechanisms.

In January of this year, researchers at the University of Michigan also obtained a patent that could use a headset to solve motion sickness. When the passenger has a motion sickness response, the light on the device will begin to flash.

In November last year, Uber obtained a patent that would illuminate the lights in the car as soon as the vehicle was about to turn, alerting the passengers.
