OSRAM acquires Digital Lumens, a leading US software platform provider

Shanghai, August 24, 2017 - Osram announced its agreement to acquire Digital Lumens, a leading US software platform provider, to strengthen the Internet of Things (IoT) portfolio of products based on industrial building interconnected lighting systems. Founded in 2008, Digital Lumens specializes in industrial IoT solutions and is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, with 65 employees and sales of tens of millions of dollars in the previous fiscal year.

The Digital Lumens software platform enables custom applications in a wide range of applications, including intelligent lighting control, energy usage, security systems, air quality and other environmental metrics. This cloud-based software platform is compatible with components and hardware from other manufacturers. Digital Lumens has built a large customer base of industrial IoT solutions with over 2,500 installations.

Osram Chief Technology Officer Stefan Kampmann said, "The acquisition of Digital Lumens will enable OSRAM to provide future-proof digital solutions for device management and IoT applications. After acquiring Digital Lumens from a number of venture capital firms, OSRAM will continue to expand its business with digital lighting solutions and enhance its experience in software, sensors and connectivity. Customers use the Digital Lumens cloud-based IoT solution to access their lighting management system's continuously recorded and analyzed data by paying a monthly service fee to optimize business processes and document key process environment variables.
